Camp: Week 3

What an awesome week of campers!

Tween camp has been by far my favorite week of camp. I was just a little worried when I met a couple of my campers, but it turned out that they were my absolutely favorite cabin by far. I was having so much fun with them that I worried I just might be missing something!

The week was off to an eventful start...and yup, the trend continued. The nurses have started to become my best friends among the staff, I think I see them more than I see most of the other staff now! First day one of my girls was riding on a tube behind the boat and twisted her ankle. Sure enough, it swelled up and walking around camp became a little bit more of an adventure, and the walks from place to place took a little longer.

I finally got to go on the tube behind the boat too! It was such a blast and the girls loved it that I had fun with them too. By Tuesday afternoon it was coming up for my day off and I had been having so much fun I didn't even remember that my day off was the next day! (Even though I still was happy for a day off)

There were still some dragging feet and a little homesickness, but with some encouragement and love, everyone was having fun and did the activities with enthusiasm. The weather was a lot better for most of the week, but I have to say that tubing down the river for 20 minutes in the 55 degree weather was an adventure! I was so excited. All the girls had agreed they didn't want to go tubing down the river with it being so cold, but if one person wanted to go, then everyone had to go. Fingers crossed I waited....but alas, ONE girl (oh yes, the one on crutches) decided that she wanted to go tubing down the river still. There went my nice ideas of a warm shower and hot chocolate......*sigh* The camp attitude came out and I put on my swimsuit and we all went down the river...I have to say, I kept as much out of the water as I could, but still had a lot of fun!!!!! It's true that when you decide you're going to have fun...you will. :)
